Nathan Tella, the Super Eagles forward at Bayer Leverkusen, has reaffirmed his versatility, stating that he is capable of playing effectively from either flank. While his preferred role remains as a forward or attacking winger, Tella also acknowledged his willingness to adapt when required by the team.

Despite frustrations over limited game time in the current campaign, Tella emphasised his readiness to contribute whenever deployed whether on the wing or as an emergency wing-back. "I’m an attacker. I’ve always said that. But when you play in a team like this, you must be ready to make sacrifices," he clarified, adding that he discussed such roles directly with coach Xabi Alonso, who assured him of future opportunities.

Earlier this season, he had to step into the right wing-back position following injury to Jeremie Frimpong during a Bundesliga clash, a shift he embraced despite admitting it wasn’t his natural position. "If I’m asked to play there, I’ll do it as well as I can," he insisted.

His transition to the role was not smooth at first, but with support from teammates, Leverkusen staff and Alonso’s guidance, he found his rhythm. He revealed that he has "adopted the position 100%", having taken on the tactical demands and training necessary to execute the role effectively when called upon.
